In Which the Poet Introduces Another Blade Runner Poem / by Tim Lane

How do we make reality? We collect data and make arguments. I have continued to work on this poem.

"No Dove" is a poem from a series of poems entitled The Blade Runner Poems. The poems are meditations on themes from the films Blade Runner and Blade Runner 2049. I had to make "No Dove" because the general consensus is that Officer K is dying in the penultimate scene of Blade Runner 2049. I confess that as I sat in the theater watching the film by myself, this never occurred to me. Reviewers lean on the fact that the music that ushers replicant Roy Batty out of Blade Runner is reintroduced as Officer K leans back, bleeding on those snowy steps in Blade Runner 2049. I actually use a visual aspect of the scene of Roy Batty's death to refute the notion that Officer K is dying.
