They Say It's Your Birthday by Tim Lane

On today, my birthday, I’d be thrilled if your evening work was accompanied with some music from my playlist that serves as a companion to my soon-to-be-self-published novel, Your Silent Face.

More news on that front very, very soon!

Small Work Works by Tim Lane

I like to work big, and in a square format. Unless we’re talking really big—then I like a rectangular format.

Occasionally, I get on a jag and make some small work. In an effort to create some more affordable options, I’ve added some smaller pieces to my shop.

There’s a lot of content at yoursilentface, and I’m working on creating more.

So, Split Enz called to say, “Hey, what’s up? Why aren’t we included on the playlist?” Fair point, we concluded. We’ve added seven tracks. Hopefully that makes up for things. My personal favorite is “I Hope I Never.”

We’ve also added “Duel,” by Propaganda. Remember that one?!?!? “The first cut won’t hurt at all/The second only makes you wonder.” Wow. Not sure. Great track.

New Gallery by Tim Lane

There’s a new gallery at yoursilentface: Abstractions. And three new paintings!

I have always been attracted to abstract art, and while I ground a lot of my imagistic paintings with abstract foundations, I have never tried to make a straight up abstract painting.

Recently, I have been studying Abstract art, old and new, again. The other day, I dove in and tried to make a series of abstract paintings.

A final finish with a matte spray deepened the colors.

During the process, I learned that it really helps to work on several pieces at one time, or to roll right into another piece after finishing one. This keeps the paintings in conversation, but ensures that you don’t cram too many ideas into a piece that needs spaces for the eye to rest.

I hope you enjoy the new gallery. Link below.
