Not All Light Is the Same

I’m learning a lot about my camera. My equipment is limited, but when it is used to its fullest, I can capture a good image. I am learning about lighting, as well. The right lighting can make a big difference. Through some research and conversation with other artists, I am learning how to maximize what I have. And if I can capture images of my paintings that are significantly better than the ones I am already using on the site, I will swap them.

Now Streaming, 2020, 20”x16” on canvas provides a good example. Without the original painting in front of you to use as a reference, the images just look like two slightly different images. But the newer version is truer to the painting, and that is what I am after: an image as true to the painting as possible.

Both versions were taken with the same camera, but the new version was achieved through better lighting and formatting (new knowledge).

Knowledge is power.

*Of course, the image I post and one you see also depends on your monitor and display settings. So many things!
